Lucia - Swedish tradition in the Lab

13 December 2022

After two years without this Swedish tradition at Wallenberg Lab, our research group was pleased to invite our colleagues to this year's Lucia celebration.  A selection of Lucia songs were performed and according to tradition, there were ginger snaps, saffron buns, glogg, coffee for everyone.

The annual Lucia procession on 13 December is perhaps one of the more exotic Swedish customs.

In the early morning of this day, radio and national TV channels play traditional songs. On your way to work, you might see children dressed unusually - in long white dresses or as gingerbread men or Christmas elves - on their way to the celebration at schools and kindergartens.
