Team members speaking at EASD Hamburg
Two of our group members were invited to speak at the 2023 EASD congress in Hamburg, Germany. This is one of the larger European conferences with over 11.000 participants. For the first time in the history of the EASD, there was a plenary session focusing on the gut microbiome and its contribution to metabolic diseases and type 2-diabetes in particular.
Valentina Tremaroli was one of the speakers at the microbiome and diabetes - Research, Translation, and Clinical Applications expert forum organized by the Diabetes journal, and Diabetes Care - the flagship journals of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association.
Rima Chakaroun was invited to give an oral presentation as part of the session on "Omics and more: unbiased approaches to tackle obesity", sharing her views on looking into metabolome-based BMI models rather than the traditional BMI measurement to uncover underlying factors that contribute to the heterogeneity of obesity.
It was overall an intense, yet highly educational and transdisciplinary experience, according to Valentina and Rima.
