We welcome Rima Chakaroun to our team!

Rima comes from the Department of Internal Medicine, Neurology and Dermatology, Leipzig, Germany and will work with us for 2 years. She will analyze gut microbiota and microbial functions linked to bariatric surgery outcomes.

Rima Chakaroun, MD, is a clinician scientist specializing in endocrinology and metabolic disease. She is interested in how the gut microbiome and the human host interact to affect the host’s health towards, or away from, non-communicable metabolic diseases. She is also interested in how multi-omes come together in disease alleviation after metabolic interventions such as metabolic surgery.
