My PhD thesis is focused on the interaction between the gut microbiome and metabolic health, with a special interest in type 2 diabetes. A central aim of my thesis is to investigate how lifestyle factors affect the gut microbiota and microbially produced metabolites in the Swedish population. Another aim of my thesis is to explore the predictive power of the microbiome in relation to type 2 diabetes through the integration of multi-omics and the use of machine learning.
