The complexity of the microbiota and bile acid field appeal to me as I know there will always be a lot to learn and it has a bright outlook.
Bile acids are important signaling molecules in host metabolism, that act in reciprocity with the gut microbiota. My work combines molecular biological techniques, analytical chemistry, and the use of genetically modified animals to explore the interactions of bile acids and the gut microbiota, and its implications in metabolic processes.
My research is focused on bile acid signaling through Farnesoid X Receptor, and its link to the gut microbiota. I hope to elucidate features of bile acid signaling to provide a steppingstone for future pharmaceutical targets in metabolic disease.
