Valentina Tremaroli speaks at Mexico’s National Academy of Medicine
On 17 June 2026, Valentina Tremaroli delivered a keynote lecture, The Gut Microbiome in Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes, at the Academia Nacional de Medicina de México. Founded in 1864, the Academy is one of Mexico’s most prestigious medical institutions and has played a central role in advancing medical education, research, and scientific exchange for more than 160 years.
The lecture presented current research on links between gut microbiota and metabolic disease, including prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. The topic is particularly relevant in Mexico, where diabetes represents a major public-health challenge and affects a high proportion of the adult population. The presentation discussed how microbiome-based approaches may help improve understanding of disease mechanisms and contribute to future prevention and treatment strategies. The invitation highlights the international relevance of our research on host–microbiome interactions and metabolic health.
