Gianfranco Grompone is Chief Scientific Officer at BioGaia AB, where he leads the Discovery and Research team to implement a translational strategy on biotics, bridging basic research with clinical evaluation of new and existing bacterial probiotic strains. He is focused on bringing microbiome-driven innovation into the market through safe, sustainable, and clinically proven products in the food supplement arena. He combines a strong academic basic science background with business-related knowledge. Gianfranco is experienced in developing innovation processes in translational approaches, solid networks within the international scientific community as well as communication of science for large audiences.
His specialities and interests are microbiology and microbiome science, biotics innovation and biotechnology, technology transfer, team management, public-private partnerships, globalized open and cross innovation, translational research in microbiota for food and medicine, as well as communication of science through radio broadcasting.
