I did my PhD studies in the Bäckhed lab, defending my thesis in 2020. My graduate work characterized gut microbiota dynamics in a non-disease Swedish population and the development of children’s gut microbiota development up to 5 years in a longitudinally followed cohort of Swedish children. I am currently working in projects in the lab which aim to understand the role of the gut microbiota in the metabolic improvements following bariatric surgery. I am also participating in the lab efforts to characterize the strain library of human gut bacteria through sequencing of isolates, using both using Illumina short-read and nanopore long-read sequencing.
