"It is exciting to be part of a field with such strong potential for clinical translation!"

My research focuses on the characterization of potential novel bacterial species identified from the lab’s strain library. Through genomic and phenotypic analyses, I aim to determine their taxonomic placement, functional capacities and ecological roles within the gut environment. By applying culturomics approaches to cultivate and isolate previously unculturable bacteria, this work helps bridge the gap between microbial association studies and mechanistic insight. Ultimately, I seek to advance our understanding of how specific gut microbes contribute to metabolic diseases. By identifying and characterizing strains with potential therapeutic relevance, my goal is to support the development of next-generation probiotics.
