Our group's two Louises, Louise Olofsson and Louise Mannerås Holm, had the opportunity to attend the 20th International Rolf Luft Symposium 2024 at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm with outstanding lecturers such as Jeffrey Friedman, C. Ronald Kahn and Stephen O’Rahilly.

Another great speaker at the symposium was this year’s award winner Professor Dame Frances Ashcroft, Oxford University, who is the first woman to receive the Rolf Luft prize for outstanding research in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. In addition to the discovery of that the KATP channel closure by glucose metabolism into ATP plays an essential role in insulin release, she is the author of several books from which ”Spark of Life” is the most well-known to the general public.
