Late last year, we were delighted to welcome Wanli He to our team. As a bioinformatician, Wanli will enhance our analysis group. We were eager to hear his initial impressions of Gothenburg and the Lab, as well as his general thoughts on research. Here are his concise responses:

Why did you choose our lab?    
Due to its proximity to Denmark and the fact that it is a high-level, internationally renowned research group.

What are you hoping to learn?   
More from researchers working with experiments in the lab.

What are your impressions of Gothenburg/Sweden and the Lab?
All good.

Explain your research to someone who is not familiar with this field of science.
I focus on gut microbiomes to reveal their role in human disease, such as T2D.

What would you like to achieve with your science?
Becoming a group leader.

Anything to share about life/time outside the lab?
I am crazing about sports like golf, skiing and football.

What do you do to promote a healthy gut microbiome and/or health in general?
Keep sleeping well!

If you could collaborate with any scientist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Lab workers, because I don’t know how to do what they do.

Which work tool or technique couldn’t you live without?
Computer cluster.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in research?
Slow is fast.
