Professor Bäckhed elected member of EMBO
We are proud to announce that our group leader, Professor Fredrik Bäckhed, has been elected to the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) – a European network of leading researchers in molecular biology and life sciences.
"Being elected to EMBO is a great honor and a mark of quality for our research. For me personally, it is both inspiring and motivating to be part of a network that brings together some of Europe’s and the world’s most prominent scientists in molecular biology and life sciences. I see it as an opportunity to deepen and broaden my scientific network and to gain new perspectives and methods," says Fredrik about the recognition.
Fredrik Bäckhed aims to contribute to EMBO with his expertise on how gut bacteria affect human metabolism, immune function, and disease development. Through studies in both humans and animal models, he seeks to understand the complex interaction between microbes and the host. This knowledge may also be valuable in other areas of molecular and cell biology.
